Thank you for considering The French Culinary Institute for your culinary education. While we work hard to provide a challenging culinary program, we aim to keep the admission process simple. We strongly encourage you to speak to an admission representative to discuss course availability, Financial Aid, and our admissions requirements before beginning your application.

Step 1
Apply for Admission
To begin an application, select your program of interest from the online application page.
Please note there is a non-refundable* fee of $100 to submit an application.

* The application fee is non-refundable except that i) the student may cancel the enrollment agreement without penalty within three days after signing the enrollment agreement and making an initial payment and ii) a student who has not visited the school’s facility prior to enrollment may withdraw without penalty within three days following attendance at orientation or a tour of the facilities and inspection of the equipment.
Step 2
Speak to an Admissions Representative
After we receive your application, an Admission Representative will contact you to discuss the steps you’ll need to take in order to complete the admissions process.
You will also receive an Enrollment Package in the mail, which includes an Enrollment Agreement, Student Catalogue, and other important information.
Step 3
Submit Required Admissions Forms
To secure your seat in the class, within 30 days of paying your application fee, you must submit the following:
- A signed Enrollment Agreement
- Proof of high school graduation in the form of a high school or college diploma, professional degree, GED, or other high school equivalency
- The medical form contained in your Enrollment Package, signed by a physician
Step 4
Establish Ability to Pay the Cost of Attendance
To secure your seat in class, no later than 60 days before your class orientation date, you must establish your ability to pay for your selected course.
Applicants for Financial Aid
Financial aid applicants will be required to have all necessary paperwork submitted 60 days prior to orientation. For more information on applying for aid, visit the Financial Aid section of the website.
Cash Payers
Cash payers may pay in full no later than 60 days prior to the class orientation date.
Or they may pay in installments after meeting with the Financial Aid office and signing a retail installment obligation 60 days prior to orientation. Tuition will be financed with zero interest in accordance with a payment plan as follows:
- $4,500 deposit received 60 days prior to orientation
- $5,400 payment received on or before orientation
- The balance paid in further installments on the first of each month, beginning approximately one month after the start date
- The last payment must be made no later than 14 days prior to graduation

Complete Payment
The balance of your payment is due on or before the first day of class, payable to the Bursar by cash, check, or credit card.

Age
Individuals applying for Classic Culinary Arts, Classic Pastry Arts, and the Art of International Bread Baking must be at least 17 years of age. Individuals applying for Amateur and Advanced Studies courses must be at least 16 years of age.
Proof of High School Graduation
Individuals applying for Classic Culinary Arts, Classic Pastry Arts, and the Art of International Bread Baking, Restaurant Management, and Pastry Techniques will be required to submit proof of high school graduation or the equivalent in the form of a high school or college diploma, professional degree, GED, or other high school equivalency. Applicants who have been homeschooled should speak to an admission representative to check that their diplomas meet our criteria for acceptance.
International Students
Most international students enrolled in Classic Culinary Arts, Classic Pastry Arts, and the Art of International Bread Baking will need a student visa to enter the United States.
Students enrolling in Amateur and Advanced Studies programs may take most courses in tourist status. However, if their course of study is 18 hours or more a week, they will need a student visa.

The French Culinary Institute does not accept transfer credit from other institutions.
The French Culinary Institute has a designated disabilities coordinator on staff to assist students with documented disabilities who require a reasonable accommodation. The disabilities coordinator meets with students to determine reasonable accommodations for documented learning or physical disabilities. Once an accommodations plan is in place, the coordinator is available to meet with students as needed. Accommodations are re-assessed as the student progresses through the program.
