Imagine hosting a tapas party in your own home with a wide variety of irresistible dishes that rival even the finest of Spanish restaurants. Think it's impossible? Think again. Tapas Essentials immerses you in an essential part of the Spanish lifestyle that also happens to be a delicious and fun way to bring friends and family together.
In Spain, these small plates are typically served in bars and taverns with beer, wine, and spirits. Or, put several tapas together and they make a delectable, eclectic meal. By the end of this class, you'll be able to serve tortilla española (Spanish potato omelet), almendras fritas (sautéed almonds), and everything in between. In all, you'll learn 8 varieties of tapas in less time than you ever thought possible. As one of The FCI's exciting new Cooking Clinics, Tapas Essentials is an extremely intensive class designed to maximize both hands-on training and convenience. You get access to everything our career students thrive on -- including our world-class facilities, our expert faculty, and our unique Total ImmersionSM training method -- in a bite-size class that fits your schedule. In just 10 class hours, you'll learn traditional tapas preparations including recipes for soups, vegetables, meats, and seafood. And you'll put yourself on the cutting edge of one of today's hottest culinary trends. The key is our Total ImmersionSM method, which ensures that you get as much time as possible practicing recipes yourself, instead of just watching an instructor. Each class begins with a brief discussion of Spanish culture and specific tapas techniques. Then, you'll get right to work. Under the watchful eye of the same distinguished Chef-Instructors who teach our career students, you'll:
- Become familiar with the essential items used for tapas that are regularly found in a Spanish pantry
- Prepare eight traditional tapas dishes, including soup, vegetable, meat, and seafood dishes
- Learn to prepare a full range of tapas dishes using an earthenware casserole (cazuela), a hot griddle (plancha), and techniques for specialized frying
With the individual attention of one of our Chef-Instructors, this class is the perfect opportunity for experienced chefs to elevate their skills or for beginners to learn a unique culinary specialty. And, with two convenient schedules to choose from, it fits into just about anyone's calendar, too. Space is limited. Enroll today!
