06.15.09 STARS COME OUT AT L’ECOLE

The FCI unfurled the red carpet last night for a star-studded dinner at L’Ecole following a sneak peek screening of the new doc Food, Inc. at the nearby Angelika Film Center. FCI Founder Dorothy Hamilton was joined by the film’s director Robert Kenner, co-producer Eric Schlosser, and Michael Pollan, who also appears in the film, as well as special guests from the television, publishing, entertainment, and food industries.

The filmgoers—a group that included Regis and Joy Philbin; Christine Baranski; Kirsten Dunst; Nora Ephron; Cindy Adams; Chefs Dan Barber, Peter Hoffman, and Laurent Tourondel; and restaurateurs Drew Nieporent and Sirio Maccioni—arrived at L’Ecole post-movie to dine on a five-course meal prepared by students of The FCI’s Classic Culinary Arts program. The menu, which featured such seasonal ingredients as wild striped bass, curried artichokes, English pea and leek ravioli, and rhubarb consommé, was served alongside unfiltered wines and an eco-friendly high-tech cocktail dubbed the Thai Basil Fizz, created by Nils Norén and Dave Arnold.

After dinner, the guests were invited to take a tour of our kitchens. Regis Philbin, for one, seems to have been impressed by what he saw and tasted: The next morning he recounted his experience at The FCI on Live with Regis and Kelly.
